OPAL

Amazing play, every day, for every child!

OPAL is an award-winning, mentor supported school improvement programme that addresses all the areas that schools must plan for if they want to strategically and sustainably improve the quality of their play opportunities.

At Seven Fields, we prioritise children’s play through OPAL. Our sustainable resources enrich our pupils' lives at lunch time and keep the children active and learning through play. We know our pupils value their play and lunchtimes and they wanted more freedom with what they could choose and areas that they could go.

By mixing our children from Year 1 to Year 6, they are able to form new friendships and are exposed to playing with other like-minded children. We have also been able to have more areas of the school grounds open even during cold and wet weather.

We value their voice when providing them with what they need.

So far, we have opened:

  • Small World

  • Sound Wall

  • Water Play

  • All-weather wellies on the field

  • Sports Muga

  • Digging Area

  • Weaving

  • Arts and Crafts

  • Role Play Office

  • Drama and theatre area in our amphitheatre including dressing up.

  • Performance Stage

  • Tyres

  • Train

  • Messy Kitchen

  • Den Building

  • Scooter Track

  • Climbing Wall

  • Sand Pit

We are looking to develop our open spaces further and encourage wild flowers and wildlife by leaving certain areas of our field to grow and allow children to explore the space in new and exciting ways.

Our next pupil voice will allow us to develop a plan for future zones to ensure our children have amazing play, every day!
